Free and paid areas
The basilica costs nothing. Go in through the Puerta de Platerías, without a backpack, and note that there are no visits during services. The Pilgrim's Mass is at 7:30, 9:30, 12:00 and 19:30, so plan your visit around those times.
Everything else is sold on the cathedral's visits website or at the ticket offices on Plaza del Obradoiro, beneath the grand staircase.
Picking your ticket
- Permanent collection, €9: museum, Crypt of the Pórtico, Palacio de Gelmírez, MuSar and Museo Diocesano.
- Pórtico de la Gloria, €15: the Pórtico with an audio guide, plus the museum.
- Roofs and Torre de la Carraca, €15: a guided route up top, plus the museum.
- Full visit, €23: Pórtico, roofs and museum. If you want both, this is the obvious choice.
The full visit has a €19 reduced rate. Under-12s with an adult get into the permanent collection free.
Pórtico and roofs tickets carry a fixed time, and you must be at the entry point 15 minutes before. The rest of the ticket can be used that day or in the following seven.
Pórtico: 25 minutes, no photos
The maximum stay is 25 minutes, and filming and photos aren't allowed. Free invitations are for the 16:00–17:30 window, Monday to Sunday, with a maximum of two per person. If the Pórtico is all you're after, look at that option first. The museum and the Pórtico can also close at short notice for religious ceremonies or institutional events.
The official 90-minute guided tour leaves at 12:15 and 17:30, for €20.
Roofs: watch the sky
The climb is 140 steps up the inside of the tower and ends at the Torre de la Carraca, about 72 metres high. It isn't wheelchair accessible. The cathedral can cancel the visit without notice in bad weather. It also lists visits in English at a single €15 rate, so check the language when you book.
Cathedral website or Tiqets
The cathedral doesn't refund or exchange tickets. Tiqets sells guided tours that can be cancelled before the date, and that's the reason to look at them. Compare what each one includes. The official website has the unguided tickets, at the official price.
After dark
The guided night visit costs €25 and lasts about 90 minutes, with departures at 22:30, 22:45 and 23:00, Tuesday to Sunday. It includes the Pórtico, its gallery, the main chapel and parts of the museum.
