Museums in San Sebastián

In the city

San Telmo and the Aquarium fit into one day, and Tuesday is the one to pick. San Telmo is free (€10 on other days), and at the €16 Aquarium you can watch the sharks being fed. Avoid Mondays: San Telmo closes except on public holidays and long weekends, and from October to March so does the Aquarium, except on long weekends.

By bus, out of town

Chillida Leku is in Hernani, with buses every half hour from the centre. It costs €14 and closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Museo Balenciaga is in Getaria, 25 km away on the UK10 bus. From November to February it closes on Mondays and Tuesdays. From an hour before closing until 30 minutes before, you can get in free at the ticket office until capacity is reached, though that's too little time for the whole museum.

Fitting in all four

From November to February all four open Thursday to Sunday. If Tuesday is your only day, stay in the city. If it's Monday, go to Chillida Leku.
