34 ramps and 17 steps

The climb comes first on the visit and has its own entry check. You walk up 34 ramps and 17 steps to the bell chamber, rising about 80 metres, like a 25-storey building. Keep to the right, because people come down the same ramps. Leave suitcases and backpacks at the hotel, medium-sized ones included: they can't go up, and the Cathedral has no left-luggage room.

The conservation work doesn't stop the climb

The sixth phase of conservation on the tower began after Holy Week 2026 and centres on the Renaissance top. Inside the bell chamber there's a platform above the visitor route, and the Cathedral is keeping the visit and the views. You'll see scaffolding high up: the aim is to take it down before Holy Week 2028.

If you can't or don't want to climb

The price is the same either way. If you have vertigo or claustrophobia, think of it as paying for the church, not the tower. Prices, free hours and which ticket to buy are on the Seville Cathedral page.
