Free
On the first Sunday of the month, entry is free for everyone from 10:00 to 14:30. There are more open days on dates such as Sant Jordi. At any time, free entry applies to under-16s, unemployed people, people with an accredited disability (and their companion if the card says they need one), teachers in formal education accredited by their school, accredited professional tour guides and university students.
Booking
Tickets are sold at the museum's ticket offices, from 10:00 until 30 minutes before closing, or online on the museum's website. The money is refunded only if the visit can't go ahead for reasons attributable to the museum.
Opening hours
Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00, and Wednesday until 20:00. Sundays and public holidays, 10:00 to 14:30. The ticket office and entry close 30 minutes earlier. On 24 and 31 December, 10:00 to 14:30.

Mondays that aren't public holidays, 1 and 6 January, 1 May, 6 June, 25 and 26 December.

Pick the rate by what you'll see

The price of the Museu d'Història de Catalunya depends on the exhibitions. The permanent one costs €6, a temporary one on its own €4 and the two together €8. With two temporary exhibitions, the combined ticket rises to €12.

If you only want the permanent exhibition, buy on the museum website or at the ticket office. On Tiqets, check which exhibitions the ticket covers and compare it with the museum's equivalent rate. Its advantage is that you can cancel before your date: the museum only refunds you if the visit can't go ahead for reasons on its side.

First Sundays and reduced rates

On the first Sunday of the month everyone gets in free, from 10:00 to 14:30. Because entry closes half an hour earlier, last entry that day is 14:00.

On any day, under-16s, unemployed people and university students go free, among others. The reduced rate is for ages 16 to 24, ages 65 and over, and Carnet Jove youth card holders. The BCN Card gives a 20% discount.

Bags, cameras and children

Bags and backpacks have to go in the cloakroom. Under-16s must be with a parent or legal guardian. Inside, you can't film or take flash photos.
